Dwelling In the WORD
For Christians, reading the Bible is crucial, but it is equally essential to meditate and study on its teachings. The focus should be on retaining what you learn in your heart rather than the amount you read. As believers, we seek to hear God's voice through His Word and to achieve this, we must dedicate time to reading the Bible.
We have added two plans to choose from again this year along with one of the 2023 plans.
The Psalms Reading Plan -
Our 1-year Psalms reading plan is an effective and straightforward approach. The plan calls for meditating on a few chapters per week, identifying key verses, and underlining passages that are meaningful to you. As you read through the Psalms, it's helpful to keep a journal and note how God speaks to you. This unique plan is divided into weeks, providing flexibility. Work to not skip a day. When you are tempted to skip a day, try reading just one scripture from the week's reading and meditate on that passage throughout the week.
Chronological New Testament Reading Plan –
This plan offers the weekend to catch up, revisit, or just take off. Reading selections follow along a chronological path through the New Testament. Again, it’s helpful to have more than one translation, a Bible Dictionary, and/or other reference materials to enhance your study. Keeping a journal of new insights, favorite verses, or meaningful passages is very helpful in making this an enjoyable and beneficial spiritual discipline.
Entire Bible in One Year –
This is the most reading in any of the plans. There are two selections from both the Old Testament and New Testament each day. Dig in and keep a journal of new insights and things you learn during your time with God. You could modify this plan and do the Old Testament in the first year and New Testament in the second year. This plan also gives you a few days to catch up, revisit, etc. each month.
Copies of each plan are available in the Church Office!
